WIN Conference 2013

The inaugural WIN Conference, hosted by the Australian Government and the traditional owners of Darwin, the Larrakia people, took place in Darwin, Australia from 26 to 29 May 2013. Approximately 1200 delegates from more than 50 countries attended the conference, which included presentations, workshops and plenary addresses on many issues.

Topics discussed at the conference ranged from  ancestral domains in the Philippines to community based environmental education in Mongolia to food security in the Arctic.

The event provided a unique and exciting opportunity for indigenous and local community land and sea managers worldwide to come together, learn from each other, and build alliances. To read more about the conference, and to hear an interview with participants, please see this article from SBS News.
